Adventure Starts Here!
Scouting is where adventure, leadership, service, and friendships come together. Through outdoor experiences, hands-on learning, and youth-led activities, young people build confidence, develop valuable life skills, and create memories that last a lifetime.
Scouting America offers programs for youth ages 5-20, helping them grow through experiences that challenge, inspire, and prepare them for the future. Here in Monticello, Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Venturing programs provide a pathway of adventure for boys and girls ages 5-20.
Find Your Scouting Adventure!
Scouting grows with your child – from first outdoor adventures in Cub Scouts to leadership and high adventure in the teen years. Each program is designed for a specific age group, helping youth build confidence, learn new skills, and make lasting friendships along the way. Explore the programs today:

Grades K-5
Cub Scouts is a family-centered program where kids explore the outdoors, learn new skills, and build confidence through hands-on activities, games, and community adventures. Monticello is home to two Cub Scout Packs – Pack 272 (Pinewood) and Pack 274 (Little Mountain).

Ages 11-17
Scouts BSA provides opportunities for camping, hiking, leadership development, community service, advancement, and high-adventure experiences. Scouts plan and lead their activities with assistance from adult leaders. Troop 270 is Monticello’s Scouts BSA program for boys and girls, consisting of linked troops 3270 (boys) and 5270 (girls).

Ages 14-20
Venturing is a co-ed Scouting program for older youth focused on high adventure, leadership, service, and personal growth. Crew 3270 is Monticello’s local Venturing Crew, where members plan and lead their own activities, including outdoor expeditions, travel, and service projects that build independence and real-world leadership skills.
Why Families Choose Scouting
Scouting gives young people something they don’t always get in school or everyday life: real experiences that build confidence, indepdendence, and character. From outdoor adventure and hands-on learning to leadership opportunities and community service, Scouts grow by doing – not just listening. They learn how to work as a team, take responsibility, and push themselves to try things they might not otherwise attempt. For families, Scouting offers a safe, supportive environment where youth can build friendships, discover interests, and develop skills that last for the rest of their lives.
Adventure
Scouts experience the outdoors through camping, hiking, and high-adventure activities that build confidence, resilience, and lasting memories.
Leadership
Youth lead at every level of the program, learning to plan activities, make decisions, solve problems, and guide their peers.
Service
Scouts strengthen their community through meaningful service projects that build empathy, responsibility, and civic pride.
Growth
Scouting helps young people step outside their comfort zone, try new things, and develop confidence that carries into school, work, and life.
