Monticello Troop 270 held a flag retirement ceremony at one of our troop meetings last month. A scout flag retirement ceremony is a respectful event where worn American flags are honorably retired, often through burning, in line with the U.S. Flag Code. Scouts reflect on the flag’s meaning, participate in a color guard presentation, and honor its service with patriotic readings and moments of silence. This tradition instills respect and patriotism in young Scouts.
